Date:
Sept 2004 - August 2009

The project consists in Roller
Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam, 52 M high, 207M long, with
regulating reservoir and its auxiliary works.
The Main Conduction Tunnel has 11,050 M with a shotcrete and
conventional concrete lining, has a 3.66 M section and was
partially built (6,341 M) with a TBM and the rest (4,709)
with Jumbo an Blasting.
The Secondary Tunnels, to connect with the Caña Amarga, Río
Blanco y Arroyón Dams have a 3,413 M long and were built
with Jumbo and Blasting. |
The superficial Powerhouse has a control centre, offices,
shops, warehouses and two vertical shaft Pelton type
generator, 25 MW each, with 157 GM annual production and a
60 tons. bridge crane.
The steel penstocks is a 1,200 M long with a variable
diameter from 2.00 M to 1.40 M and connects the main
conduction tunnel with the Powerhouse. In the upper part of
the penstock has a butterfly valve. The pipes are hold
through concrete supports and the slopes and changes of
directions are hold by concrete anchorings.
Four secondary dams, Sonador, Arroyón, Río Blanco and Caña
Amarga, through its secondary tunnels, incorporate to the
system, more that 30% of its generating capabilities.
The project has an electrical substation, which connects it
to the National Electric System through a 23 KM, 69 KV
transmition line and connect with Bonao II substation as the
main distribution center. With the purpose to connect the
projects with the electrical national system, the Bonao II
substation was enlarged with the instalation of new double
bars and the recessary equipments for the measuring and
protection of the transmition lines such as section switchs,
PT and PC.
In order to have the project in an efficient way with the
Río Blanco Project, there were installed special instruments
with the purpose of supplying the necessary information and
data for a secure and reliable way in real time from the
control center. These instruments include hidrological and
hydrometric stations in several strategic points of the
project. The project also has telecomunication stations for
the transmition through radio, to optimize the system. |
